NEW Rates for 2008
Thank you for your
interest. The WORKS Club, (Western Ohio Radio Kontrol Society) indeed
has a flying field in the Franklin/Carlisle/Germantown, Ohio area. Our
field is located at 10491 Carlisle
Pike (Ste Rte 123) just west of Carlisle Ohio. We use a private full
scale airport located at that address. The field is known as Hummel
Field and is listed on airport maps.
Our membership requires Academy of Model Aeronautics membership in
addition to WORKS Club membership. Juniors (under the age of 19 AMA
membership runs from $1.00 per year to
$15.00 per year dependant upon whether you want to receive the monthly
AMA magazine, which is crammed full of news, hints, tips and some
advertising. For adults, the AMA Membership is $58.00 per year. Both
membership types include a substantial liability policy, which is in
addition and secondary to home owners or renters insurance, in case you
are involved in an accident with your airplane. AMA also has a PARK
Flyer membership with a reduced Liability and no Medical coverage for
$29.95 per year, however this type of AMA membership does not qualify
for Membership in WORKS.
The membership in WORKS for 2008 is $100.00 . Junior memberships are
$25.00 per year. Also available is a Family membership which can include
Mom, Dad and Children under the age of 19 for $100.00. Membership Fees
for new members only are prorated after July 4th, according to the
number of months left in the year when you are accepted into the club.
AMA membership is
required for all WORKS membership levels.
Volunteering in WORKS is somewhat limited. We have a mowing list which
usually gets all members except Juniors, Seniors and those with medical
restrictions to mow the field twice yearly.
You would be paired with another member not only for speed but for
safety. Of course all of the Officers and Board Members are on an
elected volunteer basis. There are also several different committees
that are also volunteer
WORKS has a student pilot program, where you are paired with an
Instructor. The Instructor will take your plane off, recover the plane
from crashing when possible and land the craft until such
time as you are capable of solo flights. The student pilot night is on
Wednesday evenings during Daylight Savings Time, but once you get
started you can fly at other times (weekends, other
weekdays) if an instructor is available.
Our club meetings are held at the field (June through August) on the
last Tuesday of each month at 7:30 PM. Board Meetings also are held at
the field at 6:00 PM. Beginning in September and running through May the
meetings are back indoors at the Old Washington Township Hall (Town Hall
Theatre), 27 N. Main St. in Centerville. In the Lower lever (Basement).
The Winter meeting times are Board Meeting at 7:00 PM and Club Meetings
at 8:00 PM
If you have any further questions, don't hesitate to ask. Hopefully,
I'll see you at the next club meeting If you can make it, or come by the
field on Wednesday evening (during Daylight Savings Time) and see how
student pilot night works.
